SONICA is a sound space experiment, an attempt to transform a classical exhibition space into a field of events, performances, workshops and lectures. The main theme of the festival is POST- indicating an exploration of sonic future and artistic purification. Selected artworks have a common search for their own meaning, surpassing hyper media saturation whether thorugh sound or through image.
The presented authors are seeking concluded systems, new languages and forms through their experiments, processes and products. Each artist is engaged in devising his own universe and building new aesthetic relations with components of scientific approach. If purification is noise, what kind of the noise is it? How glittering can be the light and how many units does it take to produce a unity?
MoTA – Museum of Transitory Art is the first Artist in Residency program in Ljubljana. Starting with in May 2008 MoTA invites artists on a monthly basis. MoTA presents creators within broad range of art practices but focuses on intermedia, visual and sound art and new forms of artistic language (live-cinema, temporary installations…).
MoTA is a critically reflective paltform and it encourages active participation of young generations in production of artwork. One of MoTA’s main goals is to establish sustainable relations between home and foreign productions. On the long term, MoTA will develop a regular artist exchange network with partner institutions (MoTA Bangkok and MoTA Balkan Transition project), thus creating a continuous interaction between countries involved.
MoTA is a museum in Space and Time. MoTA exhibits in public space in the broadest meaning; it revives degraded areas of the city and temporarily takes over existing art institutions as well as engage in projects of its partner institutions.
